Old Water Tower Transformed into a Modern Living Space

<p>Picture yourself living in a house that was built nearly 100 years ago, and was once even used as a Nazi hide-out during the war. Now add to this the fact that the house is actually a 100-feet high water tower that was in service till 1990, and you’ll get really close to grasping just how cool  is.</p><br/><p>The Bham Design Studio started developing this tower renovation project in 2007, and eventually it ended up being a single family apartment, structured on five floors. The terrace on the top floor gives you a beautiful panorama, overlooking the Belgian village of Steenokkerzeel… and an outdoor shower!</p><br/><p>Admirably, most of the original concrete elements were preserved during the reconstruction, aiming to keep the strong character of the building. Modern Toilet Designs, Recycling Water Solar Powered Bathroom Toilet by Caltech

<p>An innovative water recycling and energy producing toilet design of the future is the intention of the Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, who wants to solve problems involving sanitation, water conservation and saving energy<span id="more-80641"></span>. Last year Gates gave $100,000 in prize money to the California Institute of Technology among other universities for their research on modern toilet design.</p><br/><p>A new bathroom toilet design will improve health in the developing world, where 1.5 million children under the age of 5 die each year from sanitation problems, caused by open defecation. The current Western style toilets use too much water and a complex sewer system, which contributes to these health risks.</p><br/><p>Gates decided to improve modern toilet design and technology, which have remained unchanged for almost 250 years. The first flush toilet was invented back in 1775 and has not really changed since its initial creation.
