The calm Finnish home of Anna Pirkola

And the home of <a href="http://www.annapirkola.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Anna Pirkola,</a> a concept designer, interior, <a href="http://mundadaa.blogspot.fi/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">blogger</a>, prop stylist and set designer is no exception.  Decorated in white, grey and light wood and peppered with design products- it certainly pays homage to the Finnish interior design style. An idyllic Finnish cottage with an outdoor summer kitchen

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">As January comes to a close and the short, snowy days continue,  I find myself dreaming of the summer sun more and more. And when it arrives - I'm going to be outdoors along with the rest of Scandinavia. That's why I thought I'd share the latest developments of one of my favourite summer cottages - an oh so idyllic family retreat on an island in the Finnish archipelego. The ongoing renovation project is driven by owner <a href="http://www.timeoftheaquarius.com/" target="_blank">Minna Jones </a>of <a href="http://www.timeoftheaquarius.com/" target="_blank">Time of The Aquarius</a> and her partner and has been well documented here on My Scandinavian Home (<a href="http://www.myscandinavianhome.blogspot.se/2013/04/a-finnish-log-cabin.html" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://www.myscandinavianhome.blogspot.se/2013/04/a-beautifully-renovated-finnish-cabin.html" target="_blank">here</a> plus her year round home <a href="http://www.myscandinavianhome.blogspot.se/2014/04/snaps-from-beautiful-home-in-finland.html" target="_blank">here</a>). Christmas touches in a Finnish home

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">When do you start putting up your Christmas decorations? I've already added a few touches to <a href="http://www.myscandinavianhome.blogspot.se/search/label/my%20home" target="_blank">my home</a> including white amaryllis and hyacinths (I love the scent) as well as a few lit candles at breakfast and as soon as it gets dark at 15.30 (yes,<i> I know</i>!). This lovely, warm Finnish home is a perfect example of late November / early December Christmas decorating. It's the Helsinki pad of Kaisa, her partner, and cat Mr Paw (who can be seen making himself at home on the sofa). Kaisa is a dab hand at DIY (as you can see on her blog <a href="http://nohomewithoutyou.com/" target="_blank">No Home Without You</a>) and loves Scandinavian interiors and crafts. This is reflected in the way she has decorated her space - I particularly love the fairylights display, plants and bunting. A beautiful pared-back Finnish cabin

For my family and I it was a matter of unpacking and settling in back home punctuated by the odd dip in the Öresund sea. Although my summer holidays are over for this year (sniff sniff), it doesn't stop me dreaming and feel inspired by idyllic Scandinavian holiday homes. Take this Finnish summer cottage I spotted over at <a href="http://emmas.blogg.se/2014/july/simple-finnish-summerhouse-inspiration.html" target="_blank">Emmas Design blog</a>, for example. Belonging to<a href="http://hullaannuhurmaannu.blogspot.fi/" target="_blank"> Johanna Lehtinen</a> and photographed by<a href="http://www.kristakeltanen.com/index2.php#!/home" target="_blank"> Krista Keltanen</a> , this black, white and wood cabin is beautifully simple, letting the surrounding nature do the talking. Suvi's inspirational Finnish sitting room

Oooo, I feel much better after my <a href="http://www.myscandinavianhome.blogspot.se/2014/07/duvet-day-perfect-bedroom.html" target="_blank">duvet day </a>yesterday :) I also loved all the comments and discussions over the single or double duvets. I thought it was only in Scandinavia couples used two single duvets on a double duvet but it seems this is more widespread than I first thought! So interesting! Today I'm turning to North East Scandinavia and am excited to share some shots of the very cool sitting room from the Finnish home of Suvi of <a href="http://divaaniblogit.fi/valkoinenharmaja/" target="_blank">Valkoinen Harmaja</a> blog.
